Holy Week begins…

When we can’t have Holy Week on the inside, we can have it on the outside! Many thanks to the Environment Team of Gene and Marcia Griglak for erecting this cross and shroud in front of our church on Bonforte. Thank you for your act of love in sharing with us a sign of Christ’s love for all of us!

Religious Formation News – April 4th

Saturday, April 4, 2020

Hello Parents and Guardians –

Things are changing fast!  Since I sent the parent email on Thursday, I have learned of some good resources sent by the Diocese of Pueblo and other places.

  • First – here is a link to The Diocese of Pueblo’s website which includes Holy Week and Easter Triduum resources which includes livestreamed Masses from Bishop Berg on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and Easter.

This page also includes links to a “Virtual Parish Mission” that will be held live on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights at 6 pm (7 pm in Spanish).  I’ve attached a flyer with more information about this mission.  .

·      In addition, here is a link to Christ the King’s bulletin which includes Fr. John’s homily for this weekend.  http://www.ctkpueblo.org/170100-040520-webpage/

Zoom links will be sent on Sunday by Laura (middle school) and Courtney (high school)

I am praying for all of you – and I miss seeing your faces.   I pray that this time away brings us closer to Christ

Parents and Guardians: Resources for Palm Sunday and Holy Week

April 2, 2020

Parents and Guardians

Happy April!  I hope this email finds you all well and healthy.  I couldn’t believe it when I looked at my calendar, but this Sunday, April 5 is Palm Sunday – which means the sacred Triduum is right behind it!  How did that happen?

Here is a 3 minute video on what the Triduum (Holy Week) is all about: https://bustedhalo.com/video/watch-holy-week-in-three-minutes

Celebrate Holy Week at Home:

I found this wonderful free resource that puts everything you need to celebrate your Holy Week at home in one convenient place.

https://holyweek.pastoral.center/

On the banner on the top of the page you can click on each day (Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday) and there are resources to celebrate that day in each tab.  There is a worship at home resources (since we can’t go to Mass), an activity, a craft, interactive stories, and (my favorite) some really cool cartoon videos of that day’s readings.  Everything you need all in one place.  This was created by a friend of mine from grad school who runs this little company that provides inexpensive catechetical materials.

Here are Masses to stream at home:

Pope Francis: http://www.catholictv.org/shows/pope-francis-daily-mass

Bishop Robert Barron in Los Angeles: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLg6k5UmSDlchlF4W97AfSWphn1ZO6wFAK

Fr. Mike Schmitz at the University of Minnesota: Duluth : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGv9j9PCyvo

Mass with Bishop Berg and other live streamed Masses in the diocese: https://pueblocatholic.org/streaming-events/live-streamed-masses/

I will send out Fr. John’s homily for Palm Sunday this weekend.

Middle and High School:

We had a fun time watching the LifeTeen live broadcast last Sunday and following up with a Zoom conversation.  We will do that again this week with middle school students in one Zoom group and high school students in another.

Here’s the broadcast link that will be live at 3 pm on Sunday, April 5: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y60aDGB2CDY&list=PLeYPzNQ7pEh8exLQFU7_QWnXsohvsYxtU&index=2&t=0s&goal=0_adab287a40-c80f8a13ec-314392964&mc_cid=c80f8a13ec&mc_eid=3cd1b6b48e

Middle school and High School students and parents will get their Zoom invites directly via Flocknote on Sunday.

High School We will also be bringing back Bible Study. The majority voted they preferred Sunday morning at 10:30. So we will be doing that! This will be via Zoom as well.  Courtney will also send the links via Flocknote on Sunday.

Confirmation Students:  Courtney is working on resources you can use to continue preparation for Confirmation at home.  She will be in touch with you at a later date.

If you haven’t seen my earlier email with the subject “Faith in Action!” – check it out.  It gives some ideas for your family to reach out and share our love with others while we are all home!

Also, you can read our bulletin on our webpage here: http://www.ctkpueblo.org/170100-040520-webpage/

Blessing on your family as you stay at home (and wash your hands)

The scammers are at it again! Another email purports to come from Fr. John, our Pastor. There’s a fake email address to respond to that puts his name in it to look authentic. Don’t open this email — delete it!

Let Sarah Nelson know if you have requests for Prayers…

Prayer Line

The Gift of Intercessory Prayer:
“Rejoice in hope, endure in affliction, and persevere in prayer.” Romans 12:12

God invites us into a relationship with Him that is both personal and communal. He speaks to us through His Son, Jesus Christ, the Word-made-flesh. Prayer is our response to God who is already speaking or, better yet, revealing Himself to us. Therefore, prayer is not merely an exchange of words, but it engages the whole person in a relationship with God the Father, through the Son, and in the Holy Spirit. –-USCCB “United States Conference of Catholic Bishops”

Mission: To pray for the intentions provided from the Prayer Line.  We welcome prayer requests by either phone call or email.

Volunteer Prayer line ministers receive weekly texts (through Flocknote platform) or email or phone calls of prayer requests as they come in. Volunteer prayer ministers then pray for the requests within their own personal prayer time and in their own way.

Do you have a prayer request?

Or would you like to join in the gift of intercessory prayer and become a part of the network of volunteers currently praying?
